This Friday 25th March 2011 sees the long awaited release date of The Eagle. The Eagle has been highly anticipated by critics and the public. It looks certain to please action packed, thriller lovers; not forgetting history boffs. The storyline and A-List cast look to please the rest of us though. So here is a brief synopsis of what it’s all about. It is released in all major cinemas 25/03/2011.
PLOT
20 years earlier, Rome‘s 5,000–strong Ninth Legion, under the command of Flavius Aquila, marched north carrying their treasured golden Eagle emblem. They never returned; Legion and Eagle simply vanished into the mists. Hearing a rumor that the Eagle has been seen in a tribal temple in the far north, Flavius‘ son Marcus (Tatum), determined to restore the tarnished reputation of his father, is galvanized into action. Accompanied only by his slave Esca (Bell), Marcus sets out into the vast and dangerous highlands of Scotland – to confront its savage tribes, make peace with his father‘s memory, and retrieve the hallowed Eagle. Along the way Marcus realizes that the mystery of his father‘s disappearance may well be linked to the secret of his own slave‘s identity and loyalty – a secret all the more pressing when the two come face–to–face with the warriors of the fearsome Seal Prince (Tahar Rahim).

This week Robert Downey Jr and Zach Galifianakis are on the road trip to hell in DUE DATE (showing the same day it’s out on DVD) Sky Box Office have released the hilarious comedy, and it is definitely worth watching!
Due Date, like The Hangover, follows the loose code that ‘everything that could go wrong, does go wrong’. It casts Zach Galifinakis, his fame coming from his first major movie – The Hangover, and alongside Robert Downey Jr the pair make a great team. Downey Jr plays uptight writer Peter Highman who after a misunderstanding on a plane with a federal marshall is put on the no-fly list, days before his pregnant wife’s due date. Like all the best buddy movies, he is forced into a situation beyond his control, in this case sharing a rental car with clueless actor Ethan Tremblay (Galifinakis) as they drive from Atlanta to LA.
It’s a madcap road trip ‘bromance’ buddy movie, with derivations of all of those coming into play, often retreading similar ground to The Hangover. It also doesn’t quite share the same hit rate of successful gags as that film or. But Due Date remains buoyant throughout thanks to the considerable chemistry of its two excellent leads. Downey Jr is on fine form. And Galifinakis essentially plays the same character as he did in The Hangover – huge, sweaty, tactless, moronic, a child in a man’s body. And like his previous collaboration with the director, he is probably the best thing in it.
Due Date is available on Sky Box Office this week so put your feet up, get some snacks and get ready for lots of laughs and above all enjoy the special early release of this Blockbuster.
